Nepal is a landlocked Himalayan country in South Asia that overlaps with East Asia, bordered by Tibet of China to the north and by India to the south, east, and west. For a small territory, her landscape is diverse, ranging from humid Terai (plain) in the south to the lofty Himalayas in the north. She boasts eight of the world top ten highest mountains, including Mt. Everest. She is also the birthplace of Lord Buddha and is frequently called “The Roof of the World”. One of the main incomes of the government is tourism, which includes trekking, hiking, camping, mountain biking, jungle safari, river rafting, and numerous beautiful temples and monasteries.

Lantang is located in the north of capital Kathmandu, near the border of Tibet. It is declared as a national park and numerous peaks are located in this region, including Lantang Lirun (7246 Meter). One fourth of the region is filled with jungle. Oaks, chir pine, maple, blue pine, hemlock, and various species of rhododendron make up the main forest species. The variations in altitude and topography along with the existing forest provide habitat for a wide range of animals including wild dog, red panda, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, deer, and various types of monkeys. Rivers Trisuli and Bhote-Koshi form an important route for birds on spring and autumn migration between India and Tibet. Tamangs, Sherpas, Gurung, and Tibetans are the main inhabitants of the region.

Chitwan National Park has long been one of the country’s treasures of natural wonders. The park is situated in south central Nepal, covering 932 sq. km. in the subtropical lowlands of Mahabharat - extending over an area of 175 sq. km. In 1963, the area south of Rapti River was demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. It is the first national park of Nepal. The park is home to many wild animals like one-horned rhinoceros,
Royal Bengal tiger, wild elephant, four-horned antelope, dolphin, Gharial crocodile, python, etc.
